New Version Of Skype Released With Video Calling Supported For More Devices Out Of The Box

There's a new version of Skype in town and in this new version, they've added video calling support for more devices now and the sad news is that there are now ads. But the ads will only appear if you do not have skype credit which I'm sure most of us don't have, so not much we can do about them. Here's the list of devices that has video calling added :

  • Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (T-Mobile)
  • HTC Shooter (KDDI)
  • Sony Ericsson Xperia Live with Walkman
  • Sony Ericsson Xperia neo V
  • Acer Iconia Tablet (A500)
  • LG Optimus Black (landscape only)
  • LG Optimus 3D (landscape only)
  • LG Optimus 2x (landscape only)
  • Motorola Photon
  • Motorola Droid 3 (landscape only)
  • Motorola Bionic (landscape only)
  • Motorola Xoom
  • Motorola Atrix

There's another device missing in the list actually and that is the ASUS EEE Pad Transformer. I've just tested it on my Transformer and the video calling does work but you have to manually enable it in the settings section and there's a warning stating that my device is not certified, so video quality may be less than certified devices. I did not test it out with a real person but with the echo test so I'm not sure how bad its supposed to be, I guess you'll know when you try it out on your Transformer if you have one.

Head on over to the download link below to grab this latest version of Skype:
