Yes folks, here's the ASUS EEE Pad Transformer Prime in all its glory. The successor to the ASUS EEE Pad Transformer has been snapped by Notebook Italia and as you can see from the picture above, it resembles a MacBook Air - a lot and that's not a bad thing because it looks like a very premium netbook / tablet hybrid.
From the keyboard itself, I noticed that the keyboard layout is completely unchanged - the key placements are exactly just like the first generation EEE Pad Transformer. What's different that I noticed is that on the touchpad, it is missing the horizontal button which you can do a left click and a right click with it.
I'm not sure why ASUS decided to remove it although the left click functionality can be executed via a single tap on the touchpad and the right click functionality can be replaced with the keyboard's back button. I still prefer to have those two buttons on the touchpad because it is more convenient than using the touchpad (and back button) to execute these two actions - especially the left click which I find tapping on the touchpad to be rather - erratic.
Nevertheless, this can be solved by plugging in an external USB mouse to the device. ASUS probably wanted to make the netbook/tablet hybrid look clean and simple. You can check out the rest of the screenshots in Notebook Italia:
